Finding Resolution in Difficult Times

During a divorce, child custody and visitation disagreements are often the most challenging to resolve. When both parents fight tooth and nail to secure the custody arrangement they want and feel they deserve, emotions run red hot. To add fuel to the fire, custody also determines who is required to pay child support and for what dollar amount. There is a strong presumption that it is in the best interest of the child to have a strong relationship with both parents. Each parenting time solution must reflect the unique circumstances of your particular situation. In some cases, I may be able to achieve this solution through negotiations with the other parent or his/her attorney. In other situations, nothing less than aggressive litigation in court will do.

Custody comes in two forms—legal and physical. Legal custody is the term that describes the arrangement for major decision-making in areas such as schooling, religion, medical and other significant issues that affect the child. Physical custody refers to which parent the child will reside with on a daily basis (Parenting Time). Physical and legal custody can be awarded to both parents or may be granted to only one parent.
